Nigel Sheail
Nigel Sheail, based in Basel, Switzerland, is the Corporate Head of Group M&A. In this role he leads Roche’s strategic mergers and acquisitions across the Roche Group businesses, and sets the direction for business development activities. In addition to this he is Head of Transactions for Roche Partnering.
Working in various Business Development roles in Roche Pharma over the last nine years Nigel has been responsible for a broad range of deals from research technology collaborations through to commercial product opportunities. Roche Partnering has executed more than 500 deals including six acquisitions and two spin-offs since its inception in 2001. Roche maintains a long term commitment to strategic collaborations to foster innovation.
Academically trained as a molecular biologist, Mr. Sheail is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has held a number of functions within the Pharmaceutical industry both with Roche and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). Nigel has also worked as the Global Controller for Research and was Finance Director responsible for the establishment of Roche’s operations in China which included five joint venture operating companies and a holding company. Mr. Sheail was a founding member of the Swiss Pharma Licensing Group.
